|Antique patinated bronze figural thermometer of a medieval youth and his hound.
Probably English this is an unusual desk thermometer with a hunting theme.
Set on an oval base the standing figure of a hunter looks into the middle distance for his quarry. He is dressed in medieval clothes and wears a cap on his head with a feather in it and holds a hunting horn in his right hand.
By his feet stands his lurcher hunting hound sniffing for scent.
Behind them is a fine baluster balistrade and to their right is an obelisk topped with an ornamental ball. Inset into the obelisk is a silvered bronze thermometer scale for centigrade and farenheit with a alcahol thermometer.
