Antique French Ist Empire ormolu mantel clock of Diana the Huntress. She is the main subject of the clock and she is found sitting on the top of the drum case of the movement and dial. This is set out as a rocky outcrop with patinated bronze rock. From the rock spring ormolu riverlets and below the dial, gushing orrmolu water, reeds in ormolu flank the dial. Diana sits, wearing a short tunic with a quiver of arrows at her back. She is petting a goat and has her bow leaning against the rocks on the other side. The ormolu base has a scene in bold relief of cupids with a wild boar and a goat. To each side of theis relief panel are applied ormolu mounts ofberibboned quivers. To each end of the base is an applied diamond shaped ormolu mount.The whole clock is set on four fine ormolu toupee feet. The convex white enamel dial is surrounded by a fine ormolu bezel decorated with concentric circles of beading, Amthemion and guilloche patterns. The dial is marked a Paris but on the back of the dial is the mark for Dubuisson the famous dialmaker who worked at the Rue de la Huchette in 1795 and Rue de la Calandre from 1812 -1820. The hands are very finely cast, pierced and finished. The movement of 8 day duration regulated by silk suspension pendulum. The hours and halves are struck on a fine cast bell by means of the countwheel system. France circa 1815. 16.5 inches high by 12 inches wide by 4 inches deep ( 41.25 cm by 30 cm by 10 cm).
