A most attractive pair of tortoiseshell, silver and silver pique hinged dressing table boxes retailed by Mappin and Webb the royal jewellers. The beautiful and perfect lids with no lifting to the silver inlay or damage or cracks to the tortoiseshell. The decoration on the lids in the form or Adams swags of ribbons and forget-me-not flowers with an Adams cartouche to the centre. The edge of the lid cast and decorated with flowers. The bpxes standing upon silver cabriole legs. The interior of the boxes lined with velvet and the underneath of the boxes with red leather stamped Mappin and Webb in gold. The boxes are hinged giving an indication of their high quality and also make them more interesting to display. Each box is stamped in the silver Mappin and Webb and each box is also hallmarked on the lid and base Birmingham 1915. 3.75 inches in diameter by 1.625 cms high ( 9.375 cm by 4.06 cm).
