Antique Industrial series Guilmet divers helmet Clock Compendium

An excellent and very original example of the fascinating and rare diver's helmet by Guilmet. The clock set upon a red marble base, is very original and has multiple functions. The front dial is an 8 day clock with fine silvered dial and blued steel hands which is wound and set remotely by a knob at the back right of the clock, a most unusual function. The silvered dial to the left displays both reamur and fahrenheit temperature and on the other side barometric pressure is displayed. To the top is a compass and behind, the air pipe fitting. Around the base are the fittings to fix the helmet to the diving suit, these are original and complete. All the silvered dials are in good condition and the information on each dial is engraved rather than painted, a sign of high quality. France circa 1890. 8 inches high (20 cm) by 6 and 1.4 inches wide (16cm)
