A very fine, unusual & elegant English Regency drum clock in Derbyshire black marble and original mercury gilt ormolu. Set on a fine base of black marble with a superb applied ormolu mount of Hercules fighting the Nemean lion. The dial & movement set in ormolu drum case rests on a carved marble setting inset with ormolu anthemion. The dial set within a fine ormolu bezel is of engine turned gilt bronze with Roman hour numerals and having Breguet style blued steel moon hands. The movement of 8 day duration is a chain fusee with original chains. An identical model in every respect except not having the ormolu mount of Hercules and signed Vulliamy was sold by Sothebys Bond Street in March 1997. 8.75 inches high by 5.25 wide and 3.5 inches deep.
