An extremely fine and original antique French Napoleon III Egyptian revival clock set in porcelain and ormolu. The clock of temple form, covered with applied ormolu Egyptian motifs of Horus etc, with columns to the side surmounted by urns. On the top of the clock is a figure of a Pharoah on a shell drawn by two Nile crocodiles. Two full porcelain panels to the sides with black background with gilt edging and polychrome Egytian motifs within the panels, the full panel porcelain dial similarly decorated. Together with two matching lidded urn sidepieces. The dial signed by the retailer, Edward & Sons Glasgow. However the clock is very unusually stamped in the ormolu Massolette and numbered 60629 , the movement stamped Vincenti silver medal 1855 and numbered like the case 60629 as is the pendulum. 8 day bell striking movement with steel suspended pendulum. 14 inches high by 11.5 nches wide by 5 inches deep. Sidepieces 10 inches high with 4.5 inch square base.
