A magnificent English Regency oval cranberry glass dressing table box with toleware lid inset with embroidery surrounding a colour wash print. The cranberry glass with deepcut diamond shape to base and decorated around the sides in gilt amthemions. The toleware lid decorated on a black ground with gilt laurel leaves. The inset embroidery under the original convex glass is on silk satin and surrounds a colour wash print of Bradbourn in Kent the seat of Sir J. Papillon Twisden Bart by W. Angus after Claude Nattes dated 1797. The embroidery is made up of couched goldwork in purl and plain purl, pure gold thread wound over silk and further decorated by gold spangle work and tin spanglework. 6.5 inches wide by 4.75 inches deep and 2.25 inches high ( 16 cms12 cms by 5.5 cms) Circa 1820.
