French antique Empire clock in ormolu and patinated bronze of Amor asleep.
A fine and rare French Empire patinated bronze and ormolu basket shaped clock of the " Sleeping Amor", lying exhausted on the top of the basket used to collect grapes from the vines at harvest and filled with grapes and vines. Signed A Paris the clock was actually designed by Jean-Andre Reiche in 1807. The same model is at the Palace de Fontainebleau. See Musee national du Chateau de Fontainebleau. #19 pp 60 . 8 day bell striking movement with silk suspension. 14 inches high by 9 inches wide by 5 inches deep ( 35 cms by 23 cms by 12.5 cms).
