Antique carriage clock, oval, engraved, miniature and French. However this one was made for the English market as it is engraved on the backplate below the escapement, F and S for fast and slow rather than A and R for advance and retard as it would be for sale in France. This really is a tiny miniature, being only 2.75 inches tall with the handle down. It is in beautifully original condition with original gilding and fine original platform lever escapement. It has five glasses, all bevelled and all perfect. The four around the case are all curved to fit the oval. The white enamel dial is perfect and the clock has its original blued steel hands. The clock is also profusely engraved, all around the base, on all the panels around the case, to the top and also both sides of the nicely shaped handle. The quality movement with many finer points of construction is in excellent condition and the clock runs for 8 days. It has a very high quality lever escapement.
