A rare and unusual French Directoire/ Empire clock depicting Napoleon standing among trophies of war including cannon, cannon balls, map scrolls and standards bearing eagles. The silvered dial with roman numerals which are engraved and has blued steel hands. The stepped rectangular base has a fine and unusual scene in high relief of Napoleon and soldiers among the Egyptian Pyramids, flanked on either side by Imperial Eagles. The clock stands upon four toupee feet. This model stands on a superb burr birch veneered base inset with mother of pearl plaque inscribed 'change' and 'stop' & contains an early two tune pull wind musical box The fine movement of the key wind chain driven fusee 30 hour timepiece.
