Beautifully proportioned and exquisitely finished, this delightful miniature combines the precision of one of Switzerland's foremost watch manufacturers with the artistry of early twentieth-century enamelling. The solid sterling silver case is of classic carriage clock form, richly decorated on the front and sides with vibrant cobalt-blue cloisonné enamel, highlighted by delicate turquoise floral motifs and scrolling gilt wirework. The reverse is finished with finely reeded silver, while the original swing handle completes the elegant architectural silhouette. Standing on four small bun feet, the clock displays all the charm of a full-sized carriage clock in perfectly reduced form. The vibrant cloisonné enamel panels showcase one of the finest decorative techniques of the period, with delicate gold wire creating individual cells that are filled with richly coloured vitreous enamels before repeated firing and polishing. The result is a luminous surface of remarkable depth and brilliance, reflecting the exceptional craftsmanship synonymous with the finest Swiss decorative arts. The white enamel dial, signed Zenith and Swiss Made, is fitted with Roman numerals and elegant blued steel and gilt hands behind a bevelled glass bezel. The rear door opens to reveal the original gilt three-quarter plate, eight-day movement, signed Zenith Watch Co., jewelled to 14 jewels and adjusted in two positions. The movement is numbered 15523, matching the serial number stamped inside the rear door and beneath the case, demonstrating the originality of the clock. The inside of the rear door is stamped Zenith W. Co., No. 15523, Swiss Made, while the underside bears the matching serial number together with the Swiss rampant bear silver hallmark, Argent, 0.925, and Sterling Silver, confirming the high-quality silver case. Miniature carriage clocks by Zenith were luxury objects intended for the discerning traveller or gentleman's desk, produced in far smaller numbers than their full-sized counterparts. Combining refined decorative cloisonné enamel with a high-grade jewelled movement, they represent some of the finest examples of Swiss miniature clockmaking from the Belle Époque.
