A charming and finely executed Swiss sub-miniature carriage clock in sterling silver, beautifully decorated throughout with vibrant turquoise-blue guilloché enamel over an engine-turned ground. The enamel panels are further enriched with delicate hand-painted floral swags and garlands in gilt, lending the clock an elegant Edwardian refinement. The white enamel dial, with crisp blue Arabic numerals and graceful gilt hands, is framed by a polished silver bezel. Housed within is a high-quality Swiss three-quarter plate eight-day movement, demonstrating the excellent standards of miniature clockmaking for which Switzerland became renowned during the early twentieth century. The reverse opens to reveal the movement and retains clear silver hallmarks to both the inside of the back door and underside of the case, including the maker's mark SG, 925 silver standard, the imported sterling silver mark, P.R., and a date letter corresponding to 1912. Small carriage clocks of this quality were produced as luxurious travelling companions and dressing table accessories, combining practical timekeeping with the artistry of the jeweller and enameller. Their compact proportions, refined silverwork and vivid guilloché enamel decoration continue to make them highly desirable collectors' pieces today.
