An outstanding pair of Italian carved and gilded wood winged cupids' heads. Retaining almost all their original gilding these carvings are in fine condition. Unusual for two reasons, they are carved from the much tougher oak rather than the more usual lime they are both carved with open mouths. Almost certainly part of a much larger panel they retain many of the wooden dowels that held the panel together. Perfect as decorative features beside a fireplace or on either side of a doorway.
