A rare and unusual small sized sedan clock from the end of the 18th century, English George III period. Set in a brass bound mahogany case with brass hanging loop. Fine reeded banding to the edges. Convex enamel dial within a convex glass and with blued steel hands. The rectangular plated English fusee movement with original fusee chains and signed to the backplate Metcalfe London and numbered 13156. Elaborately decorated backcock to the lever escapement. Small 4.5 inch diameter case ( 11.25 cms). Circa 1790.
