A very fine early 19th century mercury/fire gilt bronze group of two boys fighting over a bird. Dressed in late 18th century dress with buckles to shoes and fine detailing in all their clothes. One younger boy on his knees trying to reach for the bird in the older boys outstretched arm. On naturalistic base with their backs to a tree trunk. The capital letter B is cast into the base of the bronze. Wonderful quality casting and finishing. 5 inches high and 3 inches across base ( 12.5 cms by 7.5 cms). Probably French circa 1805.
