A superb pair of heavy candlesticks constructed of ormolu and very much in the baroque style of Louis 14/15th. Three harpies grace the triform base with further decoration of masks and flowers.The base rises and the stem supports three wingedchildren with acanthus terms. The candle holder is decorated with three children and further masks. The original ormolu drip pans also feature three winged cherubs heads. Original fire gilding. Very fine casting and finishing. France circa 1830. 12.25 inches high by 6 inches wide ( 31 cms by 15 cms).
