A very good pair of mid 19th century French lidded urns in patinated bronze and black marble profusely decorated with classical scenes and surmounted by finials of Apollo and Diana. Set on black marble triform bases with massive bronze claws the urns rise to a bowl decorated to the side with three classical scenes and three mounts of lionesses with rings through their mouths. The lids are decorated with six very finely detailed classical scenes that are seperated by entwined dolphins. Apollo is shown with his bow while Diana in short dress has a quiver of arrows and is holding a deer. French circa 1850. 12 inches by 6 inch diameter ( 30 cms by 15 cms).
