A very pretty French Empire ormolu clock of small size. The original ormolu of great quality in almost pristine condition with some minor rubbing. The clock stands upon four very fine toupee feet to a rectangular base. The domed clock housing is stepped and has a fine applied ormolu mount of two swans tugging at a flower. To the left of the clock housing stands the Muse in flowing classical dress with her hair up, flowers in her hair and bangles on her arms, playing a lyre decorated with Amthemion and floral swirls.To the right of the clock housingis a large applied ormolu musical trophy. To the front base is a further musical trophy of crossed trumpets with a beribboned wreath. To each base end there is a mount of crossed palm leaves over a wreath. The white enamel dial with Roman numerals and Breguet style blued steel hands. The movement of 8 day duration striking the hours and halves on a bell and regulated by a silk suspended pendulum. 12 inches high by 8.25 inches wide by 4 inches deep ( 30 cms by 20.6 cms by 10 cms).
