A most attractive French antique clock garniture comprising a fine ormolu and pink porcelain panelled clock together with a pair of fine ormolu mounted porcelain cassolettes. The clock set upon six decorative feet holding up a breakfront base with porcelain panels inset. Set upon the base and to each side a good model of a winged Harpie and set between, an applied ormolu mount of a lion's head between swags. Moving up the case an ormolu frame sets the shape and to each side is a classical female bust. To the top of the clock is an ormolu classical urn surmounted by a flame finial while a cupid figure swings from a swag. The dial of the clock is decorated with a cupid and his trophies.
The movement is of 8 day duration, regulated by a steel suspended pendulum and strikes the hours and halves on a bell.
The cassolettes are of excellent quality with fine painting on the bodies. Set upon shaped ormolu bases the porcelain decorated with gilt swags. The bodies of the cassolettes with applied ormolu masks to the sides and terminating in ormolu bud finials. These finials can be reversed to reveal candle holders ( see detail photo) making these extremely versatile as decorative objects. The painting to the bodies is very fine with courting couples in classical landscapes. On the reverse are paintings of birds. Circa 1880. Clock 14 inches high by 10.5 inches wide by 4.5 inches deep ( 35 cms by 26 cms by 11.5 cms), the cassolettes 11 inches high with 4 inch square bases ( 27.5 cms by 10 cms ).
