A very fine ormolu watch holder in the form of a lyre clock. The watch is held in position by a sprung bar screwed to the back of the case.
Outstanding casting to the case with the two horns of the lyre highly and completely decorated with Amthemion. The top of Apollo's lyre is surmounted by a wreath. The bezel is well decorated too. The lyre is held up by a pedestal and by two very well modelled swans standing back to back. To the centre of the pedestal is a mount of a nest with a cupid emerging from an egg within all held in leaves.
The oval boot shaped base is highly decorated with hundreds of diamond shapes within each is a forget-me-not flower. The base sits upon moulding decorated with leaf and dart decoration.
This superb piece has been re-gilded at some point in the past, it has good colour and the casting is outstanding.
