A large Charles X period "cupid on a swing" clock in original ormolu. Of portico clock form with four columns rising from a rectangular base on bun feet to a pediment with applied ormolu mounts to the front. The columns with bases and elaborate capitals. Silvered bronze dial with blued steel hands. Fine early movement striking the hours and halves on a bell. However the most unusual part is the motion of the pendulum which moves from front to back rather than from side to side. This gives a very realistic representation of a real swing. French circa 1830. 20 inches high by 10 inches wide by 6 inches deep ( 50 cms by 25 cms by 15 cms).
