A very unusual gilt bronze and split agate tinder box. The lid with seven pieces of split agate laid into it, the base with a single piece. Around the outside of the rectangular box is a match strike. When you open it up there is the remains of what appears to be methods of making fire. In the lid a hard surface while in the bottom a spring loaded carborunum ( or what remains of it. Interesting. Austro-Hungarian circa 1880. 2.5 inches wide by .875 inches wide by .75 inches high ( 6.25 cms by 2.18 cms by 1.875 cms).
