Pair of Bronzes depicting Don Quixote and Sancho Panza on black marble bases.
Don Quixote and Sancho Panza are the subject of these two delightful late 19th century patinated bronze groups. The full title of Miguel de Cervantes novel written about 1600 in Spain is "The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha" or in Spanish: El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha. One bronze is of Don Quiote talking inaimatedly to Sancho Panza and the other shows Don Quixote being carried hom eafter a quest on the back of Sancho Panza's Mule "Rucio". Both bronzes of fine quality and on black marble bases. Probably French circa 1880.
