Antique ivory and tortoiseshell box with gold stringing of outstanding quality. The interior of the box fully lined with fine blond tortoiseshell. The exterior of plain ivory with gold stringing to tortoiseshell edging. The lid of the box with superb ivory carving of a shield cartouche to the centre and four shells, one in each corner of the lid. Superb tortoiseshell hinge. Probably French circa 1880.
