A good singing bird box with enamelled plaques to the side and a Bruguier shaped case with an integral watch to the centre front.
Rymys was one of an interesting but little known group of manufacturers working in Switzerland at the beginning of the 20th century. Their work was always of a high quality and unusual.
On sliding the operating lever to the right the lid opens and the full bodied bird pops up and starts singing while moving to the right and left, flapping his wings and opening and shutting his beak. When he has finished his cycle he pops down beneath the grille and the lid follows him and it is ready for the next operation.
The bottom of the box has an engraved inscription " Mary Murray Hendrie, Halmstead, Hamilton 1923.
