A good and unusual portico clock with high quality case entirely veneered in rosewood ( including the back of case) and with the front beautifully inlaid with ivory.
The ivory inlay with swags of flowers and fruit, Ho Ho birds and further rococco decoration.
The white enamel dial surrounded by a fine ormolu bezel is signed
"A. Demeur Hger de la Cour a Bruxelles" ( A. Demeur Clockmaker of the Court at Brussels). The hands are of blued steel and of moon form.
The movement clearly bought in from Paris is engraved to the backplate "Laine a Paris" who was working at Rue de Vaugirard and the movement numbered 5331.
It is an eight day movement countwheel striking the hours and halves on a bell ( not shown).
