Antique French Gothic mantle clock with water automaton feature.
The Gothic case with patinated bronze against ormolu is typical of the period cira 1840. The ormolu is original and is of fire/mercury gilldingThe dial is fine and the feet to the front of the clock are of ormolu Griffins.
"Water" flows from the mask disapearing through reeds into a heavy Baccarat rectangular bowl.
The clock movement is earlier than the case and is by the eminent English maker John Ellicott and numbered.
The automaton feature runs very well indeed.
