Antique French Romantic period ormolu cased clock on a music box base and a glass dome. A well dressed woman stands to the right of the clock case, which is draped to resemble a ladies dressing table, trying on earings as she stands before a mirror with jewellery box overflowing, and a jug and bowl, symbolizing the allegory of vanity.
The base is decorated with a freize of Gothic arches and the feet are also decorated in gothic style.
