A most beautiful and unusual objet d'art. The case of the windmill made entirely of silver gilt, much of it finely engraved, with polychrome enamel sails, windows, doors and roof, further decorated with paste jewels in every colour. In very fine condition with all the gilding intact. The centre is cold painted. There is a hidden drawer to the base which is lined and would have been used to hold jewellry. When the sails are turned a musical mechanism is wound. When the sail is released the sails gently revolve and music plays. Silver content mark 925 and Sterling import mark.
