The BEST EVER dome topped and silver mounted tortoiseshell striking carriage clock by the eminent London company Louchars and Son who were taken over by Aspreys in 1899. This particular clock is a very early version and dates from 1875 and the superbly marked tortoiseshell case has the finest cast paw feet and finely cast foliate panels in solid silver, backed by the original blue silk. It also has a heavy cast foliate handle and dome top.
The dial plate is of silver with silver gilt chapter ring , hands of blued steel and having its original bevelled glass plate covering the dial.
The movement, an eight day carriage clock movement with lever escapement and striking the hours and halves on a gong.
Fully hallmarked London 1875.
