A good French Louis XVth ormolu and Meissen mounted mantel clock. The 18th century Meissen figures of a girl and boy with a muzzled bear between. The clock is surmounted by a model of a peacock and all covered with porcelain flowers. The typical "C" scrolling rococco base is absolutely right for the period and the fire gilded ormolu is completely original. The convex enamel dial signed Masson a Paris as is the backplate of the movement in full script. The 8 day flat bottomed movement with bell strike with numbered countwheel has been converted from silk suspension to a superb English lever escapement in the late 18th or early 19th century. 14 inches tall. Circa 1760.
