A fine pair of ormolu mounted marble vert vases of the French Louis XVIth period. The ovoid shaped solid marble bodies with ormolu rims and mounted with sea-monster heads swathed in rich floral swags. The marble body held in a reeded and florally decorated cup set on a finely decorated spreading stem all on a shaped ormolu base. The quality of the casting and mercury gilded ormolu is outstanding. The threads and nuts all original and hand cut. 8.25 inches high on 2.5 inch shaped square base and 4 inches wide overall ( 21 cms tall by 6 cms square base and 10 cms wide overall).
