A large and outstanding French Grand tour Palais Royale music box and necessaire. With a very fine gilt bronze carcase decorated in floral straps, winged paw feet and dog head handles. Every mother of pearl panel is exquisitely engraved and perfect. The interior is lined with silk and has a drawer of sewing necessaire with perfume bottle, bodkins, winders, scissors etc. ( see detail photo). Below the necessaire is an early music box wound and controlled from beneath the box. Circa 1815. 12 inches wide.
