French antique Louis Phillipe ebony and ormolu mounted portico clock.
A good French Louis Philippe period ebony veneered and fire/mercury gilt ormolu portico clock. This design of clock was particularly popular during the Charles X and Louis Philippe period. It's stark architectural design and dark colours softened by the use of ormolu mounts to the pillars, the decorative pendulum, bezel and to the tympanum and base. Original gilding. The dial of silvered bronze on engine turning and having fine blued steel hands of Breguet moon form. 8 day key wound bell striking movement. Signed on the movement Cleton a Bolougne. France circa 1830-40. 18 inches high by 9.5 inches wide by 5 inches deep ( 45 cm by 23.75 cm by 12.5 cm).
