A very fine pair of Russian ormolu candlesticks of good size. Excellent casting, the circular base decorated with a concentric circle to the outside edge of ribbons and stars in a matted ground, the inner circle decorated with an unusual stiff leaf pattern. The stem is gadrooned with a knop of acanthus leaf. Moving up the candlestick from the base they are decorated with acanthus leaf, tehn laurel, then Amthemion, four point stars within stiff leaf among other patterns. The drip pans are original. Circa 1815. Russian. 10.5 inches high by 5 inches in diameter ( 27 cms by 12.5 cms).
