A sensational pair of French Empire candlesticks in fire/mercury gilt ormolu with antique vert marble stems. Set upon a round socle decorated with stiff leaf moulding, musical trophies and concentric circles of laurel. Set upon this are three feet while the marble stem in marble with ormolu band rises to three fine female heads with further highly decorative ormolu up to the candle sconces. These marvellous sticks have been wired for electricity at some point and can be use as originally designed with candles or as lovely lamps. 13 inches high with 5 inch diameter bases ( 32.5 cms by 12.5 cms). Circa 1805.
