A magnificent pair of bronzes by the celebrated French sculptor Albert Ernest Carrier-Belleuse 1824-1887. One bronze of a woman holding a snake in each hand is titled " Charmeuse" on the base and is signed there and also by her feet . The second bronze of a woman with looking glass and flower is titled " La Verite" and similarly signed. Lovely colour and fine detail. Each stands upon a variegated marble base of Campan Rouge. Height of La Verite 47 inches ( 117.5 cms), height of Charmeuse is 44 inches ( 110 cms). Circa 1880. His assistants at various points included Rodin and Mathurin Moreau.
