A very fine pair of early 19th century patinated bronze and ormolu figural candelabra. Original very heavy quality fire/mercury gilding and original light brown patination. Superb detail and finishing to the casting. One figure is of Diana with sickle moon in her hair and with her bow and quiver. The male figure with the club we think is Theseus as he is har too pretty to be Hercules. Each kolds the candelabra with a gilded cornucopia. These candelabra could be French Empire/Charles X period but on balance because of the gilding, treatment of the figures and construction we think these particular candelabra are English from the Regency period circa 1815. 23 inches high by 4 inches square at the base ( 57.5 cms by 10 cms).
