Key wound chain driven fusee movement working the bellows & driving 5 cams that on sliding the operating slide to the front, the lid opens and the bird pops up and 1/ opens & shuts the ivory beak, 2/ turns its head from left to right, 3/ dips body forward & back, 4/ flaps the wings, 5/ pirouettes left and right. On completion of his 20 second performance he drops through the pierced silver gilt grille and the lid closes after him
Stamped to movement Ch. Bruguier Geneve 189. Also scratch signed Charles Bruguier Rue de Paquis No 5 a Geneve, Suisse. No repairs or replacement parts to the movement . Circa 1845. 10 cms by 6 cms by 3.5 cms.
