An exceptionally fine engraved "gorge" cased five panel porcelain repeating carriage clock in outstanding original and unrestored condition. The "gorge" case ( a very beautiful and restrained style which was never used for any but the finest clocks) has particularly fine engraving and has five perfect "jewelled" porcelain panels of the very best quality. All the panels have bleu du Roi ground with handpainted scenes surrounded by jewelled giltwork. The top quality eight day movement with original lever escapement strikes the hours and halves on a gong and repeats the hours at will by pressing the repeat button on the top of the case.5.5 inches high by 3.5 inches wide by 3.25 inches deep ( 7 inches high with handle up), ( 14 cms by 9 cms by 8 cms).
