A most attractive pair of French Empire fire/mercury gilt ormolu candlesticks. Standing upon a circular base with outer concentric circles of stiff leaf and dart decoration with a further circle within of vine leaves, very well cast. Within this upon the domed base further decoration of leaf and flower. The cup is in the form of an acanthus leaf holding the reeded stem. The column terminates with an acanthus flower candle holder above a ring, well poinced and having four forget-me-not flowers. Excellent casting and finishing and with original gilding. Circa 1815. 10 inches high by 5 inches diameter ( 25 cms by 12.5 cms).
