A fabulous quality English 19th century writing slope. Constructed of coromandel wood with mahogany linings, fine gilt bronze mounts with five sevres paris porcelain plaques in bleu celeste. The lid lifts to reveal an original pair of gilt bronze lidded glass inks together with various coromandel lidded boxes. The writing slope opens and is hinged to give a large writing area. Double signed, the finely engraved lock is signed Bramah London and the inside of the writing slope has a gilt bonze plaque engraved T A Simpsom and Co. 154 Regent Street. England. Circa 1880. 14 inches wide by 10.25 inches deep and 4.25 inches high (35.6 cms by 25.6 cms by 10.6 cms).
