A fine and beautifully proportioned French mantel clock in tortoiseshell and gilt bronze. The dome topped clock is veneered in tortoiseshell backed with gold foil to produce an extremely rich colour. The clock is sparingly mounted with gilt bronze for a striking but also restrained look. The clear convex white enamel dial with gilt bronze hands. The movement with 8 day bell striking movement and regulated by a platform lever escapement. Circa 1900
