A most attractive and fine quality ormolu and turquoise porcelain mantle clock. Surmounted by an urn with ovals of courting couples to the front and flowers to the rear. Fine large side panels of hand painted porcelain show courting couples. In front of the side panels are elaborate free standing mounts of cupid's trophies. The full panelled dial plate is well decorated and painted. Further panels of porcelain to the sides and front of the clock's base show classical urns and decoration. 8 day movement, bell striking the hours and halves and regulated by a steel suspended pendulum. The movement is stamped to the backplate " Japy Freres". France circa 1860. 17.5 inches high including base or 15.25 inches high by 10.5 inches wide and 5.75 inches deep ( 43.75 cms or 38 cms by 26.25 cms by 14 cms).
