A most unusual and very early carriage clock covered in un-polished shagreen and decorated in a shibyama style with birds, leaves, flowers and insects. The silver is hallmarked WT for William Thornhill and dated for London 1879. 8 day movement with lever escapement. 3.5 inches high ( handle up) by 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep ( 8.75 cms by 5 cms by 3.75 cms).
