A stunning Italian Grand Tour specimen marble and ormolu desk tidy. Of square plan the mainly statuary white Carrara marble tidy sits on four fire gilded ( original) ormolu claw and ball feet. The top of the tidy has a pen tray and four circular dishes for pins, nibs etc. The area between the dished area inlaid with a fine marble. Each side is decorated in diamond patterns of various marbles inlaid into the white marble. Beautiful and rare object. Circa 1860. 6 inches by 6 inches by 2 inches high ( 15 cms by 5 cms).
