This large, heavy musical box is of silver plate and stands upon four feet. The box is decorated with neo-classical scenes of landscapes with trees and birds. The lid is superbly decorated with acanthus leaf borders between laurel festoons and inset in the lid is a scene of a peacock on a fountain in a village scene. To each side of the box is a scene with cupid's arrows and flaming torch between neo-classical urns and with two doves. To the front and back are two different views of Palladian gardens again with pairs of birds. The music box is key wound from below and is set off by lifting the lid of the jewel box. 6.5 inches wide by 4 inches high by 4.25 inches deep ( 16.25 cms by 10 cms by 10.6 cms)
