Antique French candelabra in Etruscan revival style.
A good pair of French antique patinated bronze candelabra in the Etruscan revival style. Highly popular in France at the end of the 19th century, the fondeur Barbedienne produced many models in this style. Set upon a circular marble base the central column runs up to a tazza plate of delicate design. The arms of the candelabra run from beneath the tazza plate terminating to the sides in an Etruscan head and above with Amthemion decorated candle holder. The central column rises and becomes a Herculean figure or one of Atlas holding up the world. The well muscled figure is naked except for a cloth which he holds over his waist. Above his head the candelabra terminate withy a carrying ring. French circa 1890. 9 inches high by 9 inches wide and maximum depth 4.5 inches ( 22.5 cms by 22.5 cms by 11.25 cms).
