A quite amazing quality desk set and compendium in the industrial idiom constructed of black marble with gilt and silvered bronze. The set comprises an eight day clock with baropmeter and thermomenter with inkwells, pentray and pen wipe. Set upon a black marble base with inkwells and penwipe inset to the front. The large gilt bronze double ended anvil is shown with two industrial hammers on top, inset is the 8 day key wound clock with white enamel dial, roman numerals and blued steel hands. To the left of the clock is a silvered bronze set square and circular saw blade inset into which is a thermometer on a finely engraved and silvered dial. To the right of the clock is a barometer set into a gilt and silvered bronze cog wheel. France circa 1890. 9.5 inches high by 14 inches wide and 9 inches deep ( 23.75 cms by 35 cms by 22.5 cms ). What an amazing gift for any kind of engineer.
