A good English bronze statuette of Oliver Cromwell addressing Parliament that he dismisses on 20th April 1653 ( the date on the scroll in his hand is actually 20th April 16550. One of the towering figures in English history. The statuette retaining most of the original gilt lacquer stands upon a tapering base inscribed OLIVER CROMWELL and LORD PROTECTOR and also giving his birth and death dates 1599 and 1658. He is shown as he would have been in his home town of Huntingdon in the dress of a well to do man in feathered hat and high boots. English circa 1850. 10 inches high by 3.875 inches square ( 25 cms by 9.68 cms).
